2027 Events

The following are the major events we expect to be supporting with some combination of medical, response, event control and mountain safety cover in 2027. These are mostly events that we have supported in previous years. Many are not yet contracted for 2027, but this article is intended to give our freelance staff an idea of what is likely coming up.

Arc of Attrition

  • Organiser: UTMB UK

  • Briefing: Depending on shifts, various times on Friday 22nd January at Perranporth

  • Race dates: Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th January 2027

  • Departure: Depending on shifts, various times on Saturday night, Sunday, or a few may stay overnight and depart first thing Monday 25th January

  • Nature of event: 100M, 100K, 50K, 25K continuous races around SW coast path in Cornwall.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Healthcare professionals and first aiders. No physios required.

  • Response team: Yes

  • Incident control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: No

Northern Traverse

  • Organiser: Ultra X

  • Briefing: Friday 2nd April afternoon at St. Bees (although some staff may not need to attend and instead be briefed later / elsewhere)

  • Race dates: Saturday 3rd - Wednesday 8th April 2027

  • Departure: Depending on which locations covered variously from Monday 5th to Thursday 9th.

  • Nature of event: Continuous 300km race along Wainwright’s Coast to Coast path in Northern England from St. Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay. Also includes sub-races of Lakes, Dales and Moors Traverse running at similar times.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Mainly healthcare professionals (including physios).

  • Response team: Yes

  • Event control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: No

Eryri (previously Ultra-Trail Snowdonia)

  • Organiser: UTMB UK

  • Briefing: Depending on shifts, various times Friday 14th May at Llanberis

  • Race dates: Friday 14th - Sunday 16th May 2027

  • Departure: Depending on shifts, various times on Sunday 16th May

  • Nature of event: 100M, 100K, 80K, 50K, 25K continuous races around Snowdonia.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Healthcare professionals and first aiders. No physios required.

  • Response team: Yes

  • Incident control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: Yes (large team)

Lakes 3000 Ultra

  • Briefing: Friday 25th June at Keswick

  • Race dates: Saturday 26th - Sunday 27th June 2027

  • Departure: Sunday 27th June

    Nature of event: 54 mile ultra race via the 3000’ summits of the Lakes.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Healthcare professionals and first aiders. No physios required.

  • Response team: Yes

  • Event control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: Yes

Dragon’s Back Race

  • Organiser: Ultra X

  • Briefing: Sunday 5th September at Conwy

  • Race dates: Monday 6th - Saturday 11th September 2027

  • Departure: Sunday 12th September from Cardiff (transfer back to Conwy available)

  • Nature of event: 6-day expedition race from Conwy to Cardiff in Wales.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At overnight camp each day (and 1 at support point). Mainly healthcare professionals (including physios).

  • Response team: Yes

  • Event control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: Yes

Skyline Scotland

  • Organiser: UTMB UK

  • Briefing: Thursday 16th or Friday 17th September at Nevis Range / Fort William

  • Race dates: Friday 17th - Sunday 19th September 2027

  • Departure: Sunday 19th September

  • Nature of event: Various mountain and trail races up to 100M or 100K in Lochaber

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Healthcare professionals and first aiders. No physios required.

  • Response team: Yes

  • Incident control: Yes

  • Mountain safety: Yes (large team)

13 Valleys Ultra

  • Organiser: The Great Run Company

  • Briefing: Depending on shifts, various times on Friday 24th September at Keswick

  • Race dates: Friday 24th - Sunday 26th September 2027

  • Departure: Depending on shifts, various times Saturday night or Sunday after final shift

  • Nature of event: 13 valleys (180km), 7 valleys (110km), 5 valleys (55km) and 2 valleys (22km) races around the Lake District. New for 2026: 6 valleys race.

  • Medical cover: Yes. At aid stations and finish line. Healthcare professionals and first aiders (but no physios required).

  • Response team: Yes

  • Event control: TBD

  • Mountain safety: TBD

Availability

If you are interested in any of the above, for now pencil them into your diary. In late 2026 we will start seeking availability.

When the time comes, we recognise doctors in particular often cannot confirm leave more than 6-8 weeks in advance, so we usually ask for interest in principle, subject to leave, and we will confirm with you nearer the time of the event.

Other events

The above are the largest events we expect to be covering. We anticipate other events that will be confirmed and we will announce and seek availability for in due course throughout the year.
